"I make sure she recovers properly."

If your dog works hard… you have to support them like it. Raven is my canicross dog. She runs with me. A lot. And because of that, her needs are completely different to the others. She has to be in peak condition to perform her best. That level of work puts real strain on her body… and if I’m asking her to run long distances with me, I need to support her as best I can, just like I would for myself. Hydration is the first thing. Running dogs lose more than people realise. Making sure she’s getting enough and that her body is absorbing it well is a priority. And her joints. High-impact repetitive work adds up over time. She feels great now. I want to keep it that way. The thing about an active dog is that it’s easy to assume they’re fine because they seem fine. But with a dog that’s working this hard, prevention matters more than most people think. Raven doesn’t ask for much. But what she does ask for, she earns. - Amber
