After plastic street covers made the heat worse, the town called on crochet instructor Eva Pacheco. She gathered around 40 “granny students” to rethink the idea of shade. Since 2019, they’ve hand-crocheted more than 500 square meters of colorful synthetic wool panels, forming a giant canopy above the shopping streets! Each year, about 30 new panels are added, turning the district into a constantly evolving artwork.
