Why my daughter no longer sleeps on my pillow

I'm Stephen, founder of Bombees. This isn't a sales pitch. This is how it all started. A few years ago I was sitting on the edge of my daughter's bed. She was five. And as I watched her sleep, I noticed something I had never really seen before. She was sleeping on the exact same pillow as my wife and me. A big, grown-up pillow. Made for an adult head, an adult neck, an adult body. And there she was. Five years old. Her little head sunk in, her neck bent at an angle, her small shoulders pushed up. I thought: this isn't right. A child is not a small adult. Their body is still growing. Their neck, their posture, all of it is still developing. And yet we put them to sleep on a pillow that was never made for them. How is it that nobody ever stops to think about this? I started asking around. My sister, who has kids of her own. Friends with young families. I asked everyone the same question: why do our children sleep on our pillows? Nobody had an answer. Most of them looked at me like it was a strange thing to ask. Like it was the most normal thing in the world. "Isn't that just how everyone does it?" And that answer is exactly what stuck with me. Because "everyone does it this way" is not a reason. It's just a habit nobody ever questions. So we decided to do it ourselves. Together we designed a pillow that actually was made for a child's body. At the right height, with the right support, so their neck and head rest in a natural position instead of sinking into something far too big. And we added something we had noticed in our own daughter. Children search with their hands. They fidget, they toss and turn, they need something to hold on to before they can fall asleep. So every pillow got a soft fidget tail and ears. Something for little hands to gently fidget with in the dark. And an Ice Silk cover that feels cool against a warm, sleepy cheek. That's how Bombees was born. What happened next was both the best and the hardest part. The pillows took off. Families were overjoyed. But we had made one big mistake. We never applied for a patent. Before we knew it, our design was completely copied. Mostly out of the Chinese market. Cheap knockoffs, identical in shape, but without the quality and the details that mattered to us in the first place. And because we now had to compete against those copies, we could only sell our own pillows on very thin margins. Honestly? That hurt. You create something, you build it from nothing, and then you watch others walk away with it effortlessly. But we learned from it too. Alongside our pillow, we're now working hard on new designs and our own variations. Extra models that add to the lineup, this time with our own patent. So that what we build actually stays ours. The pillow this all started with, the one that families keep choosing, remains our heart and is available today. The new designs come on top of it, they replace nothing. And despite everything, we're incredibly proud of where we are now. As I write this, more than 48,946 families have become our customers. With a return rate under 1 percent. Every single day we get happy messages and photos from parents whose children won't let go of their pillow. Where bedtime is no longer a struggle, but something they look forward to. We're a small company from Belgium. We started out selling in our own country only. Since then we've grown to the Netherlands, now our biggest market, and we've recently launched in the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, where it's catching on just as strongly. What began as an idea on the edge of a child's bed has become my full time job. With one goal. To put the best children's products on the market. So that our next generation, our kids and one day their kids, get the best sleep and the healthiest possible start they deserve.
