Your résumé is key to grabbing a recruiter’s interest. But if it’s outdated, it can keep the focus on your age — not your qualifications. Leave out the following: ▪️ Old email addresses. AOL, Yahoo and Hotmail handles can look dated. Update to a more modern email provider. ▪️ Jobs from more than 15 years ago. Focus on recent, relevant experience that highlights your current skills. ▪️ Graduation years. Recruiters can use this information to estimate your age. ▪️ Landline phone numbers. A mobile number makes it more likely you’ll be able to answer calls promptly. ▪️ Outdated tech skills. You don’t need to list tools or systems you mastered 20 years ago if they’re no longer relevant.
