Workers and supporters have rallied nationwide outside Northface stores to get its owner, VF Corporation, to cut ties with Movement Gyms. The climbing gym has had an ongoing labor dispute, with over 500 members unionizing across 10 locations. This new protest outside Northface has a deadline of July 18th, when the activewear company, which supplies the climbing gym with specially branded gear, is set to co-sponsor Global Climbing Day with Movement Gyms. Employees at Movement Gyms have been organizing since 2021 and have collected commitments from over 600 members to freeze their accounts. Workers United filed multiple Unfair Labor Practice charges with the National Labor Relations Board in May, accusing the gym franchise of bad-faith bargaining, worker intimidation and unlawful changes to working conditions at unionized locations.
