Mind If We Talk?

Mind If We Talk?

Why do men struggle to share how they feel? The answer is more personal than most of us admit. On Episode 6 of "Mind If We Talk?", host and therapist Sreela Roy-Greene sits down with author Cory Allen and writer James McCrae, two men who spent years suppressing parts of themselves they were taught to hide. Cory grew up with a father who was always the strong one and lived on high alert. James spent years concealing his love of poetry. Both learned early what kind of man they were supposed to be. This episode follows how each found their way back to themselves and what being vulnerable made possible. a friend told me the other day that her stuff isn’t „big enough“ for therapy.
and i sat with that sentence for way longer than i wanted to.
because i think we’ve quietly built this idea that you have to earn a seat in that room. that something has to break first. that you need a „good enough reason“ to take care of your own mind.
but who decided that? and why are we so generous with that permission for everyone else and so strict with ourselves?
you don’t have to be falling apart to deserve support. you can be doing pretty okay and still want to understand yourself a little deeper. you can be „fine“ and still want more than fine. you can be in love with your life and still want a soft place to sort the noise.
therapy isn’t a verdict on how bad things are. it’s a quiet way of saying: i’m allowed to be looked after too.

@betterhelp matches you with a qualified therapist based on what you’re actually looking for, no matter how fine your life looks from the outside 🫀

have you ever hesitated to talk with a therapist?
